Lucky Bamboo

I bumped into this lucky bamboo pot yesterday when I was wandering around Queensbay Mall with my sister. This lucky bamboo is really cute... So, I decided to buy it and surprisingly the price is quite cheap... Only RM8.88 and 10% discounts! Lucky me! My sister also bought one (pot with red jelly). I read somewhere that Lucky Bamboo is "luckiest" if received as a gift - not sure though how much luck this plant is going to bring me given that I gifted it to myself! ;p Hopefully I can keep this plant alive longer than my chili plant which died a slow death from lack of nutrition! Haha...

Although it is called Lucky Bamboo, it is in fact Dracaena sanderiana a member of the Lily family. A native of rain forest floors it is easy to grow because it require little direct light, in fact too much light can be harmful. Furthermore, it can survive quite happily in a vase of water, just refresh it every week or so.
Lucky Bamboo is often given as a gift in China. For example as a housewarming present, to welcome a new baby or at Chinese New Year. The luck you get will depend on the number of stems you have. Three will bring you happiness, five will bring you prosperity, and six will improve your health. However, you must never have four, because the Chinese word for the number four is very similar to the word for death, so this is considered very unlucky. I may not believe in Feng Shui, but I love the idea of having a good fortune sitting at my office... \(^_^)/

Jay Chou Is Coming To Town

In a climate of commercialized C-Pop where good looks take precedence over musical talent, and where every Chinese artiste is contented just singing translated versions of Western songs, Jay Chou's originality is refreshing. In fact, he's the only Chinese artiste I truly idolize. I like that in every new album of his, he is always ready to explore new themes while staying true to his roots.

His music is always creative and is gonna stay interesting for many years to come. It's hard to find fault in this musical genius.

But that's not what this blog entry is about today. My blog entry today is to tell you that Jay Chou is coming to town.

Calling for all Jay Chou gig! Come celebrate this New Year with Jay Chou World Tour (Malaysia) which will be held on 23 February 2008 (Saturday) at Stadium Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur.Click the following link for more info: Jay Chou World Tour 2008

Review : Fahrenheit [Two-Sided]

Two-sided Fahrenheit is the second album of the popular Taiwanese boy band Fahrenheit, released on January 4, 2008. The album pre-order sales reached 50,000 in Taiwan. The album has currently sold 350,000 copies from pre-orders. (Wikipedia)

My Thoughts:
Well I’ve just got this album last weekend and I decided to do a review straight away on it! Fahrenheit's new album shows the members' sophisticated and youthful sides, highlighting how much the group has grown in the year since their debut album. Fahrenheit's brand new album comes with 13 songs including Romantic Princess theme song "New Home" (Track 1), a duet with label mate' and frequent collaborator S.H.E.

‘New Home by S.H.E and Fahrenheit’ is one of the older songs that I’ve actually grown to like. The rap by Ella/S.H.E is awesome as well as their harmonizing, Fahrenheit has improved MUCH since their first release and the MV is just too cute! I loved the upbeat-ness of the song, this is a more of a bubblegum pop sort of song, but heck my two favorite bands together, I’m happy! Track no 2 (Wei Ni Cun Zai) ~ One of my favorite songs from the album and I always end up singing "wei ni cun zai cai bu gu dan.." It’s soft, catchy, alluring and basically fascinating song... ;p

Overall
10/10. Second album that I’ve listened from Fahrenheit and it leaves me a deep and great impression of them. I love them! *Thumbs up*

New Year Resolutions

My new year resolutions for 2008:

  • Have more control on my financial.
  • Starts monthly saving.
  • Improve my photography skills
  • Really got to learn Chinese Language
  • Motivate myself, and others
  • Family first!
  • Start my own business (insyaAllah)
  • Buy Apple iPhone... hehe..

Financial :
My major new year resolutions for this year mostly related to manage my financial better. I guess I shouldn't be shy to confess that I'm a very bad credit card user. Haha... But it's pretty clear to me that credit card is the major element that makes me not having a full control of my finance, so the only thing to combat this is get rid of it totally. Yeah! Last weekend, I'm doing my financial budget for this year and also budget for traveling... (Kota Kinabalu, Bali, Disneyland & Jeju Island, Korea).. Haha... I'm so excited! From that budget, I realized so much money wasted on unnecessary usage and from now on I want to starts monthly saving, at least RM500 per month! <-- hopefully.. ;p

Photography:

Yes, I started to like it more and more. I actually was overwhelmed with the list of lenses and accessories that are available for my Nikon D80 camera. Will be slowly adding more accessories to my camera as time goes, and as when I can afford it. Down deep inside, I do have a subtle passion for photography. And it's just time for me to get just a bit more serious about it. And photography is just totally a whole new world for me to discover as hobby.

New to DSLR world like me? I found this Enjoy! Digital SLR camera (Cannon DSLR) guide is very informative. Other link for Nikon DSLR : Nikon Imaging ~ Digitutor

Mandarin:

From last year, I'm obsessing with Chinese language. I'm trying to learn Chinese really hard right now.. Yes, on my own and a little help from my sister and websites. Difficult would be an understatement. I was also looking for a Chinese name.. Thank you to my sister for giving me one.. I love it! I wonder when I'll be able to write my name in Chinese... It's really hard to write! So complicated! Haha.... My progress now, I can pronounce Chinese very well... <-- show off! Haha... So, the next step is learn from my sister the basic conversation... I can do this...Yeah!

Family:

There is nothing more important than family. I love my family (past, present, and future) very much. They are the center of my world. Now, my life has not happened as I once expected and wanted. Yet as I look back and then forward, I am thankful for my life just as it is. I have been blessed to be raised by wonderful parents. I have the most amazing siblings, and great friends to share my life with. I have been blessed with a desire to learn new and marvelous things, and the opportunity to do so. This year, I really want to spent much time with my family and my best friends... I really miss my mother right now... I really want to hug and kiss her.. Can't wait to see her on Chinese New Year next month..

Apple i-Phone:
Even though its lack of the essential features for my dream phone (3G support, GPS, high mega pixel camera <-- i don't really care actually because of my D80.. huhu), iPhone is still my dream phone. I just don't know why. There is something about this phone that I really wish to get one. Yeah! Go Lenny! Grab it now... hehe ;p

That's all... I want to continue my work la.. See you again, guys!

Appreciating Our Past

It is easy to be negative about past mistakes and unhappiness. But it is much more healing to look at ourselves and our past in the light of experience, acceptance, and growth. Our past is series of lessons that advance us to higher levels of living and loving. The relationship we entered, stayed in, or ended taught us necessary lessons.

Some of us have emerged from the most painful circumstances with strong insights about who we are and what we want. Our mistakes?? Necessary. Our frustrations, failures, and sometimes stumbling attempts at growth and progress?? Necessary too. Each step of the way, we learned. We went through exactly the experiences we need to, to become who we are today. Each step of the way, we progressed. Is our past a mistake??? No.. The only mistake we can make is mistaking that for the truth.

Today, God, help me let go of negative thoughts I may be harboring about my past circumstances or relationships. I can accept, with gratitude, all that has brought me to today..
